About Us

Dogstar Media, Inc. (dba ARTICO) was founded in San Francisco, California in 1993 by partners Susan Cronenwett and Jaye Johnson. Building upon our combined talents of package design and print production management we began as a food packaging and printing company. Our philosophy has always been the desire to support companies that offer good quality, fairly priced products and who are respected in both the marketplace and the communities they serve. We’ve had the opportunity to work mainly with privately held manufacturers, achieving the goal of maximizing their product sales, while saving them considerable marketing and advertising dollars.

Owning our own business certainly has its perks, and one of them is the freedom to bring pets to work! That is just what we began doing in our first studio in San Francisco. Zoey, our Toy Fox Terrier, quickly became the ARTICO mascot, eagerly greeting clients and vendors and sunning near the window when time permitted. Then one day Susan decided to properly outfit Zoey. And that is just what happened. A vision was had, an outfit was designed, fitted, hand sewn and another business was born.

The rest is history in the making! Our company has grown in ways we could never have imagined, and we eagerly embrace all of the opportunities and challenges that have come with new ideas and innovation.

Susan’s first design was also a first of its kind in decorative dog neckware: the Original Shag-a-loo™.  Colorful, soft, shaggy fun and ease of care make this the perfect dress-up accessory for dogs and cats. Available in a color scheme for every occasion and fitting most small to medium size dogs.

In 2005 we launched a line of self-standing photo frame greeting cards with colorfully themed stickers. The first showing was at the Global Pet Expo and later in the year they débuted at the National Stationery show in NYC. Creative Designer, Laurel Lane, brought her humorous nature and intuitive mindset for trends in design and illustrative talent to these fun and imaginative pieces. Our ever expanding line reflects the special dates and events that are celebrated with your pet throughout the year; birthdays, Halloween, and graduation just to name a few. These are truly more than just a card, with your personalized photo they become a visual keepsake to treasure and share.

We are most excited to introduce our first cookbook, Kuma’s Kitchen – For People Who Cook for Their Dogs. It is full of easy to prepare recipes that your dog(s) will enjoy! With health and freshness in mind, this was written to dazzle the taste buds; you can even lick the spoon…really!

The ARTICO creative studio (Dog Paw Farm) is located on Oregon’s beautiful central coast in the sleepy town of Waldport with a sales office in the San Francisco Bay Area.  We try our very best to produce most of our products in the USA. However, no matter where our products are made, we insist and demand the same standards of integrity and consistent quality that we so strongly believe in. You can count on it.
